Pirate Radio
Just brilliant.
Whimsical, funny, sexy, lots of topical drug and authority references.
Fantastic on camera work all around, including a delicious cameo by Emma Thompson, an over the top representation by Kenneth Branagh, and solid sets from Rhys Ifans, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Tom Sturridge, and Bill Nighy. And for you January Jones fans, enjoy yet another period performance.
The film takes a dark turn near the end, and then suffers from a Busby Berkeley inspired Hollywood ending, but it's still worth it, on so many levels.
You don't have to like sex and drugs and rock and roll to enjoy this (thanks Ian Drury for that line), but it sure would help.
